      Information for organisations that are funded by the department to provide homelessness support services.

    • Rooming houses

      In Victoria, rooming house regulations have been made that include a suite of 11 standards for rooming houses.

      Disability service providers in Victoria are required to act compatibly with human rights, taking them into consideration whenever they make a decision.

      Specialist support is available to help with matters involving multiple and complex needs or the criminal justice system.

      Disability service providers that hold a service agreement with us, under the Disability Act 2006, are required to be registered.

  • Children, youth & families
    • Family and parenting support

      There is a range of family and parenting support programs for children from 0 to 17 years, and their families.

    • Out-of-home care

      When children and young people cannot live with their families we provide out-of-home care, which includes adoption, permanent care and foster care.

    • Leaving care

      Leaving Care has a range of services and supports to assist young people, to transition from out-of-home care to independent living and adulthood.

    • Child protection

      Victoria has a child protection system designed to place the best interests of children at the center of all decision-making.

    • Family violence

      The department provides both support services and violence prevention programs for people who have experienced family violence.

    • Sexual assault

      We provide services for children, young people and adults who have experienced sexual assault, these include crisis care response and a phone crisis service.

    • Youth programs

      Youth programs support young people, aged 12 to 18, and their families to live at home or independently.

    • Refugee minor program

      This program provides support for unaccompanied refugee children, assisting them and their relatives, or carers to develop settlement skills.

    • Child and family services new funding model

      These changes are part of broader reforms to redesign child and family services.

    • Mandatory reporting

      After 1 March 2019, new reporter groups will be mandated to report a reasonable belief of child physical or sexual abuse.

    • Register of community services

      Service providers that hold a service agreement with us, under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005, are required to be registered.

    • Working with the NDIS

      The department has developed resources to assist Child FIRST, Integrated Family Services, Child Protection and Out-of-Home Care providers.
